‘Constitution must be rewritten’

Gaighat, April 12

Federal Socialist Forum chairperson Upendra Yadav today demanded that the constitution ‘enforced' by the league of the three major political parties be rewritten.

Speaking at a party programme at Pipalchowk, in Udayapur district headquarters Gaighat, the FSF chair accused the three major parties of resorting to force to implement the constitution.

“The constitution imposed by the group of three big parties is not what the people had wanted. So the statute should be written by ensuring federal provinces vested with the rights to self-governance and provincial autonomy,” argued the leader.

Also accusing the government of thriving on the support of smugglers, black-marketeers and mafias, Yadav said it’s high time that an alternative to the present UML-led government was sought.

He pledged fresh agitation soon to ensure equal rights and justice for the oppressed lot. “As our agitation is against state power, soon we’ll launch a nationwide agitation, which will establish equal rights and justice to all the people, including the Madhesis,” he argued.

On the occasion, FSF leader Ashok Kumar Rai rued the neglect of the government towards creating conducive environment for talks, and said, “As the government has failed to create suitable environment for talks, there is no option to the agitation which will start from the third week of April.”

“We had earlier stopped the agitation to create environment for talks, but now that the government has shown ignorance, our only option is agitation,” he said.
