Cooking gas bottling plant sealed for black marketing

DHADING: A high-level monitoring team led by the Minister for Supplies on Wednesday sealed the Siddhartha Gas Udyog Private Limited after finding the bottling company involved in black marketing.

Minister Ganesh Man Pun today had led a delegation comprising high officials of concerned departments to Dhading-based gas bottling plants.

During the monitoring, the team had found as many as 806 expired cooking gas cylinders being sent to the market. The expired cylinders are apparently dangerous to use from the safety point of view.

Likewise, some samples of the cylinders were found containing mud to increase the weight, according to the monitoring team.

The Udyog was accused of selling cooking gas at a high price during the fuel scarcity in last few months.

At the same company, the team found other 500 cylinders unfit for use.

Meanwhile, the monitoring team also found fault in the Sugam Gas Udyog as it failed to check leakage before sending the gas cylinders off to the market. Nepal LP Gas Industry Association (NLPGIA) Chairman Shiva Prasad Ghimire owns the company.
