CPN-UML leader Yadav killed

CPN-UML leader Ram Naresh Raya Yadav of Sarlahi, Hempur, was murdered while on a morning walk in his village today morning. He was 60.

UML district working committee member, Yadav of Hempur-7 had set out from home for his morning walk at about 5:30am.

Police said his body was found about one hour later on the banks of the eastern canal of the Bagmati Irrigation Project. The site is about two kilometres away from his village.

“In view of the condition of the body, he seems to have been attacked with a sharp weapon on his head and face,” said SP Kedar Dhakal of Sarlahi, adding, “Investigation is under way and we’re yet to identify the persons involved and the motive behind the murder.” According to SP Dhakal, a joint team from the district police office Sarlahi, zonal police office of Janakpur and Central Regional Police Office of Hetauda has been assigned to hunt for the murderers, along with sniffer dogs.

“We doubt some personal issues were involved but as we’re yet to get hold of any concrete evidence and the family too has said they are not in the know about any issue with anyone.

As of now, we can’t say anything,” the SP said.

He added that police is tracing the mobile numbers on the call list of the deceased.

UML district Chairperson Rewati Panta condemned the murder and urged the police to bring to book the murderers.
