UML decides to seek support from parties for Karki impeachment

KATHMANDU: The main opposition CPN-UML held a meeting of its powerful Standing Committee on Tuesday.

The meeting, presided over by the party chairman KP Sharma Oli, decided to hold talks with other parties in the Parliament to garner support for the impeachment motion against the CIAA chief, Lok Man Singh Karki, according to a statement issued by the party's secretary, Yogesh Bhattarai.

The meeting was held at the CPN-UML's Parliamentary Party office in Singhadarbar.

The Parliament is scheduled to be begin deliberations on the impeachment motion today.

With 107 lawmakers of the CPN-UML and 50 from the ruling CPN Maoist Centre as signatories, the impeachment motion was registered at the Parliament Secretariat last Wednesday.

Both the parties have formally decided to vote to impeach Karki, while the largest party Nepali Congress today decided to take an appropriate decision over the Karki impeachment during voting only.
