'UML won't let House pass Constitution amendment'

POKHARA: CPN-UML Vice-Chairman Bamdev Gautam on Saturday stated that his party would not let House endorse the Constitution amendment proposal as the ruling parties planned.

Speaking at a press conference organised by the Press Chautari Nepal, Kaski chapter, he said the present delineation of the provinces would not change even one inch.

He said that more than one third of the lawmakers were with the opposition parties; and, hence, the proposal would not be passed.

Gautam also said the CPN Maoist Centre-led government was formed just on the basis of arithmetical equation, not the ideological one, and claimed it would not be capable of making any progress toward development of the nation.

Underlining his party Chairman KP Sharma Oli's contribution and role during the Nepal-India border blockade last year, he said the recent government change was a 'conspiracy'.

Meanwhile, the CPN-UML would play a role of responsible opposition party, he added.
