Criminal cases against seven front leaders

Five-day detention had been extended for further investigation into two Bara and five Rautahat leaders

Police have lodged public criminal cases against seven leaders of different parties, who were arrested from Bara and Rautahat, on the charge of anarchic activities during the general strike called by United Democratic Madhesi Front.

Cases were filed against two Bara and five Rautahat leaders. Bara police filed cases against Tarai Madhes Democratic Party General Secretary Jitendra Sonal and the party’s district Chair Nawal Kishor Singh today. Earlier, they were held on the charge of setting public vehicles on fire.

Area POlice Office Simara Inspector Purushottam Khadka said that 15-day detention period was extended for further investigation after a case was filed at District Administration Office Bara. Sonal and Singh have been kept at Area Police Office, Simara. Police held both the accused for vandalising and torching partially loaded trucks along the main road at Lipanimal-9, Chainpur, of the district last Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Rautahat police yesterday filed criminal cases against the five persons, who were held from district headquarters Gaur.

Cases were filed against Federal Socialist Forum Nepal central member Ram Kishor Prasad Yadav and Rameshwor Yadav; Sadbhavana party district Chair Shekh Jamshaid; Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Democratic district Chair Ajaya Gupta and Tarai Madhes Democratic Party leader Anil Singh.

Investigation is under way. Their custody has been extended by one week. They were held from Rajendra Patel’s house at Gaur-5. Patel was former District Development Committee Chairman.
