Dhaulagiri Icefall trekking route construction complete

MYAGDI: Construction of the Dhaulagiri Icefall foot trail linking nine Himalayan VDCs in Myagdi with Mustang has been completed.

The trail connecting to Piple, Bhagawati, Begkhola, Dagnam, Doba, Bhurung Tatopani, Dana, Chimkhola and Kuinemangale in Myagdi is an alternative route to the Beni-Jomsom foot trail which has already been advanced with motor roads network.

Dhruba Kumar Paija, chairman of the foot trail management committee, said that construction of the track from Rungese to Dabuki completed with the assistance of Rs 1 million from the Ministry of Tourism.

The path was expanded up to Lhoso Dhuri with aid worth Rs 700,000 from the Eastern Regional Chapter Pokhara of the Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) and the Myagdi District Development Committee last year.

"The preliminary construction of the track has been completed. Now the works to install information boards on the path are yet to start," Paija said, adding that the trail management committee has asked the TAAN to draw maps for the installation of information boards.

View towers would also be installed at Sobangdhuri and Dahabuki at 3800 metres and 4500 metres, respectively, from the sea level for the visitors to view the panorama of the areas, the path management committee informed.
