Dogged denizens take out canine rally against demarcation
Jajarkot, August 21
Agitators in Jajarkot district headquarters Khalanga today took out a rally with dogs in order to warn the Constituent Assembly members elected from the district against any compromise on their demands.
Locals have been agitating for the past 12 days seeking a separate Mid-western province with Surkhet as its provincial capital.
“As the lawmakers whom we voted to power have ditched us by staying dumb spectators when the so-called major political leaders gave themselves the power to split the region on their whims, we realised the need to make them aware of their responsibilities.
So, we changed the form of agitation,” said civil society leader Rajendra Bikram Shah, pledging to give continuity to the agitation until their demands were met.
Civil Society Jajarkot District Chairperson Keshavjung Shah condemned the political parties’ decision to split the region in the name of federalism. “As the agitation is under way, we are sure to make them withdraw the decision,” he said.
The rally traversed through Ranagaun, Baspark, and Thanti Bazaar before reaching Thaple.
