Federal ALliance announces fresh protest programmes
Kathmandu, April 22
The Federal Alliance today announced its new phase of agitation to begin from April 27.
According to a press statement issued here today, the alliance would submit memorandum to the government through all district administration offices on April 27.
The alliance said that it would hoist black flags in all government offices on April 29 and also organise mass and corner meetings in the district headquarters on May 1.
The alliance would organise protest programmes in major cities of the country, including Biratnagar, Dhangadi, Panchthar, Pokhara, Butwal, Janakpur, Palpa, Ilam, Surkhet, Birtamod, Hetauda, Kavre, Dharan, Rajbiraj, Dang, Mahottari, Rautahat and Kanchanpur from May 3 to May 13.
The alliance said it would continue its mass awareness campaign during the period. The alliance has set the slogan “Let’s go to Kathmandu, Let’s encircle Singh Durbar on May 14” to prepare the protesters to converge in Kathmandu.
The alliance said it would intensify its stir in Kathmandu from May 14 raising the constitutional issues as well as the issues of governance, including problems faced by earthquake-affected people, black-marketing, corruption, bribery and shortage of essentials.
There are 27 constituents in the Federal Alliance, including the constituents of the United Democratic Madhesi Front.
The alliance has been protesting against the provisions of the new constitution saying the statute failed to guarantee identity-based federalism, representation by population, proportional inclusion of marginalised communities, gender equality and empowerment of marginalised communities.
