Family murders mentally ill woman

RAUTAHAT: A woman was murdered in her house at Pacharukhi VDC in Rautahat yesterday evening. Ranju Devi Thakur, 28, of the VDC, was found dead at her house.

Her family members are suspected to have murdered Ranju by slitting her throat with a razor blade. They have been at large since the incident.

A police team deployed from Gangapipara Area Police Office had reached the site after villagers informed them about the incident.

The body was covered with a cloth when the security team reached the site. Police said they had seized the murder weapon during investigation at the incident site.

Inspector Ram Prakash Chaudhary suspected that family members were involved in the murder since all of them had fled from the house after the incident.

According to preliminary police investigation, Ranju’s husband Bali, his second wife Sita Devi, his father Samaru, and his brother Ajaya were involved in the woman’s murder. DSP Sudhir Raj Shahi of Rautahat District Police Office, said police were carrying out massive search operation to nab the accused murderers and claimed that they would arrest the culprits soon.

The body has been kept at District Hospital, Gaur for post mortem. Inspector Chaudhary said they had informed Ranju’s maternal family at Bahadurpur VDC in Sarlahi.

He added that Bali had married Sita of Bihar, India, after Ranju became mentally ill.
