FIMA seeks withdrawal of statute amendment bill

Kathmandu, December 25

Federal Inclusive Madhesi Alliance, which has been agitating against the provisions of the new constitution, has demanded that the government withdraw the constitution amendment bill from the Parliament.

Issuing a press statement today, FIMA urged major parties to reintroduce the constitution amendment bill after forging consensus on its nine-point demand.

The alliance also condemned police crackdown on the cadres of agitating political parties as well as the beating of journalist Avdhesh Jha in Biratnagar yesterday.

A meeting of the alliance held in Biratnagar yesterday also decided to take out rallies of water-buffaloes on December 27 and submit a memorandum to them. It also decided to hold a comprehensive interaction to discuss formation of a greater Madhesi alliance on December 29.

FIMA consists of Sharat Singh Bhandari-led National Madhes Socialist Party, Anil Kumar Jha-led Nepal Sadbhawana Party, Rajkishor Yadav-led Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Republican and Jay Prakash Prasad Gupta-led Tarai Madhes National Campaign.
