Fiscal year nears end, but projects are yet to begin

PHIDIM: Various projects which were in agreement with Panchthar District Development Committee are yet to begin their work while only five days remain before their contracts expire.

Most of the projects are related to road construction and road upgradation. The work to upgrade a road that links Imbung VDC with Ghurbise Pnachami through Sapsu Chling is yet to start. The project is operated by the DDC under Area Infrastructure Programme. The DDC had agreed to complete the work within five days at an estimated cost of one million rupees.

Kala Nembang, Consumers’ Committee Chairperson, is said to be responsible for the road upgradation. She admitted that the construction work was yet to begin. She, however, claimed that an excavator would be used to complete the work within five days.

Similarly, work for the upgradation of a road that links Subhang of Salbote to Pinasi through Panchami is yet start. The consumers’ committee had signed a contract with the DDC to complete the work within five days. Locals complained that dispute between political parties had led to the delay.

Likewise, work to upgrade a road from Imbung 1 to Imbung 2, Susuwa under the Constituency Development Programme is also yet to begin. LDO Tulashi Bahadur Shrestha said the DDC had followed the consumers’ committee to complete the upgradation work on Sereja-Chyangthup road.

He added that the DDC would clear the fund of those projects which have finished their work and block the payment of the projects that are incomplete or yet to begin their work. He said the DDC would also block the payment of the projects that have been carried out without assessment.
