Former CA member held for public offence

BAJURA, August 3

Bajura Police on Monday lodged a public offence case against two persons, including a former CA member, for their involvement in smearing soot on the face of Local Development Officer Yuba Raj Poudel in the district.

A case was filed against former lawmaker and Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist district in-charge Dabal Sah as well as party activist Madhubilash Rawat at District Administration Office on Monday.

Both the alleged were held from Bahundanda of Kuldevmandu VDC in the district yesterday.

According to District Police Office DSP Shyam Prasad Poudel, a team led by Sah had smeared soot on Poudel’s face after invading his office and charging him of irregularities on July 31. Chief District Officer Dhan Prasad Sharma Poudel said the alleged were remanded to custody for further investigation after a case was filed at the

office.

LDO Poudel claimed that party cadres had manhandled him as he refused to give them donation.

“They had demanded donation several times. After I refused time and again, they manhandled me,” he said.

Sah said he was ready to go to  detention for manhandling LDO Poudel, but he demanded action against him, charging him of being corrupt. He argued that they had smeared soot on Poudel’s face to unveil the prevalent corruption in society.

CPN M far-western regional In-charge Om Prakash Pun warned of a series of agitation if the party cadres were not released from detention.
