Four killed, 41 hurt in accidents

Nawalpur/Bhairahawa, November 21

Four persons died and 41 others were injured in separate road accidents in Western Nawalparasi and Rupandehi districts today.

Two passengers died on the spot when a bus fell 20 metres below the road at Sunwal of Nawalparasi along the East-West Highway, leaving 41 others injured in the accident.

The deceased have been identified as Nepali Army soldier Lokendra Bahadur Karki, 33 and Ram Bahadur Shah, 59. The injured passengers are receiving treatment at Butwal-based Genus Hospital and Lumbini Zonal Hospital.

In another incident, two siblings died when a car hit a motorbike at Sorauli of Sainamaina Municipality, Rupandehi. Til Bahadur Sunar, 55, and Khem Bahadur Sunar, 56, died while undergoing treatment at Lumbini Zonal Hospital, said DSP Dik Bahadur Malla. The former was riding the bike while Khem was riding pillion.

The tragic death of two brothers has left the entire village in mourning, said local NC leader Rajendra Adhikari. Police have arrested the car driver and launched an investigation into the incident.
