Four tankers reach Kyirong to bring petrol

DHUNCHE: Four tankers of the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) have reached Kyirong of China on Saturday.

They are there to receive the petrol provided as a grant by the Government of China in a friendly gesture considering the fuel crisis in Nepal, following the unofficial blockade by India.

NOC spokesperson Dipak Baral shared that four tankers reached there to receive the petrol and they would return Nepal by ferrying 36,000 liters petrol today itself.

He added that only four tankers were sent there as the road section about 25 kilometres up from Kyirong was obstructed due to snowfall.

Baral said though 12 tankers with capacity of 12,000 litres each had been sent to Kyirong to receive the fuel provided by China in first lot on Friday, only 4 reached Kyirong today while remaining eight would reach on Sunday. He further added that 108,000 litres of petrol will be brought to Nepal by Sunday.

Nepali ambassador to China Dr Mahesh Maskey and Consular General to Lhasa Hari Basyal were stranded on the way due to snowfall in the road section.
