Girlfriends involved in murder of amorous youth

Rautahat, September 26

It has been learnt that a youth was murdered when he tried to force two women, who are cousin sisters, to have physical relations with him in Inarwa VDC of Rautahat.

The incident came to light after the police made public four members of a family, including the two women, at the District Police Office, Rautahat, today.

Seventeen-year-old Jitendra Prasad Kusawaha from Inarwa VDC-3 was killed by the two sisters. The arrested have been identified as Bhubesworlal Raut Kurmi, his daughter Sugandhi, niece Rita Kumari and a relative Indrajit Patel.

Inspector Nabaraj Khadka, who was involved in the investigation into the case, said Jitendra had pretended to be in love with Sugandhi and had tried to have physical relationship with her. He, however, failed in his attempt. After Sugandhi got married, Jitendra pretended to be in love with Rita Kumari, Bhuwanesworlal’s niece. He then started pressing her to have illicit relationship with him but without success. After Sugandhi informed her parents about the incident, they caught hold of Jitendra and warned him against repeating his behaviour towards their daughter.

At the press meet, Bhubanesworlal admitted to killing Jitendra. Police investigation showed that the murder had taken place on September 13.

After Jitendra had failed to improve his conduct, the Kurmi family called him to their home at 11:00 pm on the night of September 13. Sugandhi then took Jitendra out for a walk. As they reached near the Seti Bridge at neighbouring Pipara Paroha VDC-7, Bhubanesworlal, Rita and Indrajit, who were hiding there, thrashed Jitendra and strangled him to death.

Police arrested the four from a relative’s house in Tejapakad VDC on September 22. Inspector Khadka said Jitendra’s body was recovered from a bush near the Seti Bridge.

Inspector Khadka said further investigation into the incident is under way after the four arrested have been remanded to 10-day judicial custody by the district court. “A manhunt to arrest others involved is on”, added Khadka.
