Health institutions in Pokhara face medicine shortage

POKHARA: The unofficial blockade imposed by India on Nepal has left adverse impact on the health institutions in Pokhara, as most of the hospitals have been facing shortage of life saving medicines for the past few weeks.

The shortage of medicines has added woes to the people of Lake City who had been facing shortage of petroleum products and cooking gas for over a month.

Health facilities in Pokhara have already witnessed shortage of essential medicines used for the patients of diabeties, high blood pressure and cancer among other diseases.

Most of the medicines used for against diseases come from India.

"Stock medicines have also been finished," Jhalak Subedi, a pharmacist said.

Though the demand for life saving medicines is high, it cannot be available at this situation, Subedi further said.
