ROLPA: A vehicle carrying Maoist leader and former Finance Minister Barshaman Pun was attacked with Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the jungle area of Madi Rural Municipality-1 of Rolpa district today.

An IED exploded when the vehicle carrying Pun reached the Phedikhola near Bhittawa in the rural municipality.

Leader Pun was returning after attending an election gathering in Sukidaha Rural Municipality. However, no damage and human casualties were reported.

It is yet to ascertain the culprits and their motives behind the incident, said police.

Pun was on his way to take part in a programme to be held in Ghartigaon of Jinawang in Rolpa.
