Lions International to build 1,000 houses and 30 schools

Lions International is all set to construct 1,000 houses for earthquake victims and 30 schools in four of the most affected districts.

Lions International 325 B 2 Nepal’s newly elected governor Ghana Shyam Bhattarai told journalists in Bharatpur of Chitwan that they were planning to invest Rs 700 million in construction of houses and schools.

“The project is being delayed as the government has not provided the design of the houses yet. We are planning to construct the structures as per the government’s directives,” said Bhattarai.

According to Governor Bhattarai, they have established an unexpendable fund of Rs 150 million to support people in dire situations.

The Lions International, which is preparing to add Rs 5 million within the next fiscal, is all set to establish a school in a hilly region for the Chepang community in Chitwan.

“The Lions International is committed to conserve culture of Nepal and empower Nepalese youths with the slogan ‘Leadership through Service’,” said Bhattarai.

The Lions has been contributing to alleviation of blindness, provision of scholarships, organising health camps, helping during natural disasters, and working in the field of environment conservation.
