Jayanagar-Janakpur-Bardibas railway inspected

A team from the Ministry of External Affairs India paid an inspection visit of Jayanagar-Janakpur-Bardibas railway line today.

The team led by Joint Secretary M Subba Reddy of the Ministry of External Affairs inspected and reviewed the railway from Janakpur to Jayanagar.

According to reports, the 29-km Jayanagar-Janakpur railway stretch will be completed by November 2017.

“We expect to complete the project in a year and operate it on the occasion of Ram Janaki Bibaha Mahotsav,” said the construction company executive director A K Goyal.

The Jayanagar-Janakpur-Bijalpura-Bardibas railway worth 5.48 billion Indian rupees will be constructed in three phases.

The first phase is 29 km between Jayanagar and Janakpur. Following its completion, the railway will be extended between Janakpur and Bijalpura, a 22-km stretch. The 20-km stretch up to Bardibas constitutes the third phase.

Though work on the first and second phases is on, contract-signing is yet to happen for the third phase.

Earlier, the railway project was affected by the Madhes agitation.
