Journos protest against Assistant CDO

GAIGHAT: Local mediapersons protested against Assistant Chief District Officer, Udayapur after he rebuked them in a public programme at Gaighat on Wednesday. Local businessmen, teachers and students were at the programme where CDO Prakash Jung Karki misbehaved with journalists for an hour. Mediapersons boycotted the programme and stopped collecting news protesting Karki’s behaviour. Federation of Nepali Journalists Udayapur Chapter, demanded action against Karki. Federation of Nepali Journalists Udayapur chapter Secretary Parshu Ram Thapa said an emergency meeting decided to start a phase-wise protest programme against Karki. Chairman Kushal Babu Basnet of FNJ, Udayapur chapter said a press statement has also been released regarding the issue. Chief District Officer Krishna Chandra Ghimire said this office would investigate the case.

Byas fully literate

DAMAULI: Byas municipality in Tanahun has been declared fully literate and vaccinated zone. The declaration was made at a programme on Thursday, when Constituent Assembly member Dhrub Wagle signed the declaration paper. As per data, 96.13 per cent of the total population of the municipality has become literate so far. Speaking on the occasion, Wagle also called for everyone’s help in order to list the entire district as literate at the earliest.

Fresh tremor felt

KATHMANDU: A tremor with its epicentre in Nuwakot was felt at 9:07pm on Thursday. The National Seismological Centre at Department of Mines and Geology, Lainchaur, said the tremor with its epicentre near Okharpauwa, 12 kilometres south of the district headquarters Bidur was an aftershock of the April 25 Gorkha earthquake. This takes the total number of aftershocks recorded at above 4 magnitude so far to 329.
