Kanchanpur woman found dead; hubby held over murder suspicion

BHIMDATTA: A woman was found dead in mysterious circumstances in Jhalari Pipaladi-4 of Kanchanpur district on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Jiwika Rana (22) of Jhalari Pipaladi.

Though her husband Balaram said she was hit by a motorcycle near her home, police suspected that it was a murder case as she had scars on her body.

Earlier, Rana was reportedly brought to Jhalari Bazaar for treatment by her husband after she was hit by a motorcycle near her home.

But, she had breathed her last on the way to Mahakali Zonal Hospital after she was referred there for further treatment after primary treatment in Jhalari Bazaar.

Police, however, had not believed in the husband's words.

"Highlighting on the accident, it seems that he is trying to blanket a murder case," said Inspector Sudam Rawal, Chief of the Jhalari Area Police Office.

"The death is mysterious as there are injuries and scars on her head and neck." the inspector further added.

Looking at the incident location, it seems that Rana had been washed in a drainage also, said police.

Police meanwhile arrested Balaram and began further investigation.

Rana's body has been kept at the Zonal Hospital whereas a team of police has been deployed to the incident location for investigation.
