DPHO Kaski monitors 24 private health facilities

Pokhara, November 21

Following the directive from the Ministry of Health, a monitoring team led by the District Public Health Office, Kaski, inspected numerous private health facilities in the district.

The team inspected the hospitals, pharmacies, clinics, dental clinics and labs located at Lekhnath, Prithvi Chowk, Newroad and Birauta.

The team monitored nine health facilities in Bagar area on November 17, ten health facilities in Birauta, Prithvi Chowk, Newroad on November 18 and five health facilities in Lekhnath area on November 20.

The team has since then served an ultimatum to those health facilities operating without registration or non-renewed licenses.

Officer Bodhraj Subedi at District Public Health Office said that the team had mailed to the concerned facilities not meeting the basic criteria to do the needful within a week.

It has been reported that at least two dental clinics were closed down as the proprietors and registration documents were not available. Consequently, they have been directed to be present before the district public health office within three days.

During the monitoring, some pharmacies were found to be selling expired drugs, or found not keeping a price list, while some were operating without registration.

Subedi said that the new health facilities and pharmacies were inspected this time as the more popular hospitals and clinics were monitored repeatedly in the past.

District Public Health Office Kaski’s chief senior administrator Dinesh Kumar Chapagain said that his office has been conducting inspection on a regular basis.
