Kavre spends measly 12 pc of budget

Kavre,January 18

Halfway through the present fiscal, authorities in Kavre have managed to spend only 12.15 per cent of the total development budget allocated for the district for the fiscal.

“Of the total capital budget to the tune of 497 million rupees allocated for development activities, only 60.389 million had been spent by mid-January,” said treasury controller Mohankrishna Shrestha, adding, “While some offices in the district have taken the amount in advance, elsewhere, offices haven’t received the money even after completing their projects.”

On the other hand, around 40 per cent of the total operating budget has been spent in the district so far.

“Of the total amount of 2.978 billion rupees for operating expenditure, 1.191 has been spent so far,” Shrestha informed, also ruing the impact of the earthquake and the ongoing blockade on the pace of development activities and also the possibility of the bulk of development fund getting frozen.

To mention the case with a few government offices, Town Development and Building Division Office and District Irrigation Office of the district have been able to spend only about 10 and 5 per cent of the development budget respectively so far.
