Kidnapped boy murdered after family refused ransom in Rautahat

RAUTAHAT: A boy, who was kidnapped for ransom from Dumariya in Kathariya Municipality-9 of Rautahat district, has been killed by the kidnappers on Sunday night.

An unidentified group had kidnapped Yubaraj Sah alias Sunny Deol, the 12-year-old son of health worker Dilip Sah on Saturday night while he was asleep in his home.

However, after the family failed to pay the ransom, Yubaraj was found dead on Monday morning at Bagmati River in Gadhimai Municipality-5 of the district.

The family, after finding Yubaraj missing from his room along with his mobile phone on Sunday morning, filed a missing person's report with the police, suspecting that the boy could have been kidnapped.

Police who have been investigating the case from various angles, went into overdrive after the kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 10 million from the family to release Yubaraj.

Under the direction of Rabindra KC, Superintendent of Police (SP) at District Police Office, Rautahat, a team was deployed under the command of Police Inspector Manoj Yadav. Likewise, another team was deployed from Gaurda-based Area Police Office under the command of Chaturbhuj Ojha. Both teams had intensified the search from early Sunday morning and arrested five persons on the suspicion of kidnapping.

During the interrogation, the five arrestees Shakti Ray Yadav (19), Pravin Ray Yadav (20), Sunil Kumar Yadav (20), Sunil Kumar Yadav (20), all of Dumariya, Kathariya Municipality-9 and Binod Kumar Patel (18), Ravi Kumar Patel (20), both of Aakadpathar of Brindaban Municipality in the district, gave the location of the murdered child, informed police.

According to SP KC, the kidnappers had taken the child some 15 kilometres east of the house and shot him dead at the river bank.

Police have arrested five alleged kidnappers out of six, and search is on for the sixth absconding kidnapper. Meanwhile, police have been preparing to send the body of the deceased to the District Hospital for postmortem.
