Family members of a woman, who died while undergoing treatment at Chitwan Medical College a week ago, accepted her body today.

The kin of 25-year-old Sunita Gurung of Krishnapur, Bharatpur had staged protest after she passed away in course of treatment, blaming her death on doctors’ negligence. Gurung had been admitted at the hospital for parturition service last Monday.

The agitating family members of the deceased agreed to accept the body today after the administration formed a probe committee led by Assistant Chief District Officer Ram Raj Subedi.

Achyut Panta, sub-research director at National Investigation; Dr Sunil Mani Pokhrel, chief of the Parturition Department at Bharatpur Hospital; Bijay Kishor Jha, chief at the District Public Health Office, and DSP Deepak Shrestha are members of the probe committee.

The brother-in-law of the deceased Soman Singh said they accepted the body after assurance from the authority of a fair investigation into the incident.
