Lumbini province sought

Nawalparasi, August 18

A peace rally was organised in Nawalparasi district headquarters Parasi today demanding a Lumbini province.

The rally was organised by Nepali Congress Nawalparasi, seeking an intact Nawalparasi in the upcoming federal set-up and a separate Lumbini Province comprising all six districts in the zone.

The rally headed by former NC president of Nawalparasi and former state minister of home affairs Devendraraj Kandel took a round of the town before concluding in a peace meeting in front of the Eye Hospital.

Various speakers condemned the splitting of Nawalparasi district to form federal states and pledged to continue their peaceful agitation until their demands were met.

Meanwhile, the agitation carried out by Nawalparasi supporters continued on the seventh day, today, in Parasi.

All the market places, educational institutions and businesses remained shut and vehicular movement was disrupted due to the agitation called by the Intact Nawalparasi Struggle Committee.

Elsewhere in the district, residents of Nawalpur welcomed the decision to keep Nawalpur in a separate province.
