Madhesi Front cadres demo to thwart UML function in Gaur

RAUTAHAT: Cadres of the United Democratic Madhesi Front staged a demonstration in the Rautahat district headquarters Gaur in a bid to thwart a function being organised by the main opposition CPN-UML.

While over 500 cadres took out rallies at various nooks and corners of the city, sporadic clashes with police have been reported.

The cadres have also blocked the road connecting the East-West Highway and Gaur at Garuda.

The District Police Office has increased the number of police personnel in the city to prevent any untoward incident.

Earlier, the opposition party had decided to hold a function in Gaur in the presence of its senior leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal at 11 am.

The programme has not begun yet as of 1:30 pm due to the Madhesi parties' obstruction.
