Students vandalised and torched Makawanpur Multiple Campus over a fee dispute with the administration, in Makawanpur on Wednesday.

A group of students aligned to Unified CPN-Maoist set the office of the chairman of the campus management committee ablaze on Wednesday.

According to the campus administration, agitating students hurled a petrol bomb into the room while a meeting of the management committee was going on at around 10:00am. The students resorted to vandalism over a dispute regarding the examination form of Bachelor’s Degree first year.

The students had been demanding free admission, whereas the campus administration had said that their examination form would be accepted only after the monthly fee and admission charge were cleared. The campus had appealed to the students to submit their forms by on Wednesday to sit for the final examinations.

Offices of the Chairman Dor Mani Poudel and Assistant Campus Chief Rajendra Bhattarari have been damaged. An emergency meeting of the campus Chairman, student unions, teachers and management committee demanded immediate legal action against those involved in the vandalism and arson.

Chairman Poudel said the guilty would not be allowed to go scot free at any cost. “Despite the scuffle, the admission process won’t be halted,” informed a campus source.
