Agitators in the Madhes targeted journalists for not prioritising issues of the Madhes.

Today, agitators barged into the Federation of Nepali Journalists Parsa chapter building and went on a rampage.

Agitators intercepted vehicles carrying copies of The Himalayan Times, Annapurna Post and Arthik Abhiyan and torched the papers at Chainpur in the morning.

The vehicles were released with the warning that any vehicle carrying papers that do not carry news of Madhes would be torched. Vehicles carrying copies of Nagarik and Kantipur returned without entering Birgunj.

THT correspondent Ram Sarraf, Naresh Sarraf of Nepal One, and other journalists, including Nepal Khan, Amit Sah, Sujit Bhujel, Irfan Ali, Shrawan Sah became the target of agitators’ ire in Birgunj yesterday and today.

Today morning itself, FNJ chapter vice-chairperson Dhruv Sah was threatened over phone bu an unknown caller.
