Mid-Hill Highway construction in limbo

Jajarkot, February 27

Construction of roads along different sections of the Mid-Hill Highway in Jajarkot district has been left in limbo due to negligence of the construction companies.

Construction of the 19 km Kudu-Suyada road section has not seen any progress for the last five years due to negligence on the part of contractors.

Officials at the project’s Tulsipur-based office said construction of the Kudu-Dasera road section in Jagatipur VDC and Thalabazar in Jhapra VDC was halted while track clearance from Karkigaun to Jhapra had not been completed yet. The office informed that Spex Khani-Dhulikhel JV, Kankai Kabir Thapa JV, Anak Road, and Bridge Kabir JV had bagged the contract for constructing various road sections along the highway.

The companies, however, have yet to complete construction work. Reportedly, the construction

companies have quit work halfway.

Padam Bahadur Shahi, a resident of Dasera, said contractors were delaying construction due to lack of action against them.

Meanwhile, construction companies have lately pledged to resume work after they were repeatedly warned of being blacklisted.
