PALPA: An elderly man who had gone missing since Sunday evening was found dead in a canal of Rampur Municipality in Palpa district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Nawal Singh Saru (63) of Kyarung, Jhirubas VDC-1 in Palpa district.

Saru's body was found in the canal which lies on the western side of  Kaligandaki Eye Hospital, according to Area Police Office, Rampur.

Saru had lost contact with his kindred after  he set out on the journey to Rampur Municipality about 34 kilometres away from home on Sunday evening, according to the members of his family.

Meanwhile, Saru's body has been brought to a hospital in Rampur to conduct post-mortem, said police.
