Missing Pokhara Metropolis officer found dead

DAMAULI: Body of Senior Social Officer at the Pokhara Metropolitan City, Om Raj Paudel, has been found near the bank of Seti River in Bhimad Municipality-6 of Tanahun district today.

According to Bhimad-based Area Police Office, a swollen, putrefying body without any clothes, was found stuck in a whirlpool. Sub Inspector of Police Gyanendra Chhetri at the APO, said that the family members of Paudel identified the body.

Police had fished the body out of the river after locals noticed the body stuck in the whirlpool.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been handed over to his family members, Sub Inspector Chhetri said.

A rescue team including Kaski District Police Office had launched search operation on the banks of Seti River since they received information on Paudel’s disappearance.

Police had carried out the search operation in Seti River based on the information given by a woman that a man had jumped into the river from Mahendrapul, at around 5:30 am, on July 7.

On June 23, Paudel had left home in a miserable condition at 5:00 am. It has been reported that he had left his wife a note saying that he was unable to take care of his three children and that he could not do enough to support his family anymore. Nevertheless, the circumstances surrounding the officer's death could not reveal the exact reason of suicide, Sub Inspector Chhetri said.
