More than 3,000 families need to be relocated

As many as 3,023 households need to be relocated to safer places in Makawanpur district.

Hundreds of houses exposed to the dangers of landslides due to cracks and ruptures caused by the deadly earthquake of April 25 and its subsequent aftershocks in various VDCs are in need of urgent relocation.

As many as 1,576 houses in Makawanpur Constituency No 1 are at the risk of landslide. Likewise, 290, 200 and 957 houses are under threat of landslide at Constituencies 2, 3, and 4 respectively.

District Disaster Rescue Committee said that more than 3,000 households needed to be relocated to safer places as many places have developeded cracks and ruptures due to quake and landslides have started hitting numerous settlements at various places in Makawanpur.

LDO Bhojraj Khatiwada said many settlements at Namtar and Raksirang VDCs were at high risk of landslips.

Houses in Jhirghari, Batase, Todke, Dumsikanda, Basukitole, among others, of Namtar also require to be immediately relocated.

Makawanpur CDO Ram Prasad Thapaliya said that around 15,000 people had registered false details of the damage caused by the quake. CDO Thapaliya pledged to take action against fraudulent people after investigation.
