MOU signed for illumination of Janaki Temple

KATHMANDU: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Janaki Temple Chhut Guthi and Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) for illuminating the Janaki Temple and its premise in Janakarpurdham with modern lighting equipment to increase the attraction of the temple.

According to MoU, NRNA will prepare a detailed plan for the illumination of the temple and will present to the Guthi who will implement after internal discussion. The agreement further states that NRNA will illuminate the temple without altering the historical infrastructure and affecting daily activities of the temple, however, the Guthi will be responsible for any permission required during the illumination.

The Guthi will be responsible for any maintenance while NRNA is required to give training to Guthi-picked person for the management of the mounted electrical mechanism.

"The project will be handed over to the Guthi vefore Vivah Panchami in December," said Subhash Adhikari, honorary council member of NRNA and Project Director of NRNA mega projects.

"The estimated cost of the project is NRs 40-50 million and the entire illumination will be done via dedicated solar energy off national grid," added Adhikari.

The illumination will proceed in two parts -- design creation after detailed investigation and implementation according to those designs.

The MoU was jointly signed by Ramatpeshwor Das, Chief of Janaki Temple Chhut Guthi and Bhawan Bhatta, President of NRNA in Janakpur on Monday.
