NC needs leadership change, says Sitaula

Biratnagar, January 9

Nepali Congress General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula today underscored the need for change in party leadership.

Speaking to journalists at a press meet organised by Nepal Press Union Morang in Biratnagar on Saturday, leader Sitaula said the party would get a new leadership through its upcoming general convention. However, he did not disclose which post he would vie for. He stressed that the election of local bodies would be held soon to ensure political stability in the country.

“As the country is facing a great crisis, the parties have no alternative other than being united,” he said. Sitaula claimed that the dialogue with the agitating Madhesi forces was heading in a positive direction. “Dialogue is the only way to resolve any problem. Constitution amendment bill has played a crucial role in creating conducive atmosphere. The Parliament is a place for sorting out issues and solving problems in a democratic manner,” he argued. He also said that the leaders were near consensus on resolving disputes over federal boundaries through a political mechanism.

In a different context, leader Sitaula advised Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to be serious and more responsible about the current crisis facing the country.
