Ne-Koryo Hospital in Damauli picketed after patient’s death
DAMAULI: The relatives of a woman, who died while undergoing treatment at Ne-Koryo Hospital in Damauli, picketed the health facility alleging negligence on the part of doctors, today.
According to sources, Gita Malla Thakuri, 43, of Bhirkot VDC-4, Gumle died yesterday, a week after the tumour in her uterus was removed in the health facility.
She was admitted in the hospital on May 31. She fell unconscious in the hospital bed all of a sudden yesterday and died half-an-hour later.
Kin of the deceased have blamed negligence on the part of Korean doctors for her death. Dr John, Dr Kim, Dr Ko, and Dr Kuley had performed surgery on Geeta.
Mum Bahadur Thakuri, Geeta’s maternal uncle, said that they had demanded fair investigation into the incident at the earliest. They have also demanded stern action against the guilty and proper reparation.
All the Korean doctors were kept at District Police Office owing to security reasons. However, the doctors have refuted the allegation saying that Geeta’s surgery was normal and it was an unexpected death. They claimed that they had done their best during treatment.
The agitating kin, hospital administration and the government reached an agreement to form a three-member investigation committee headed by District Health Office Chief Dr Bibek Kumar Lal. The kin accepted the body after consensus was reached.
Meanwhile, the probe committee said it would unveil the report within a week and report to Chief District Officer Raj Kumar Shrestha. They have also agreed to proceed ahead according to the post-mortem report.
