Sherpa gives clarification

Kathmandu, December 10

Nepal’s Ambassador to Australia Lucky Sherpa, who is facing human trafficking allegations, has furnished her clarification to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

MoFA Assistant Spokesperson Ram Babu Dhakal said Sherpa visited the ministry yesterday and today to furnish her clarification before the three-member investigation committee formed by the ministry to probe the allegation against her.

“She came to the ministry both the days and presented her arguments. Investigation is under way,” said Dhakal.

Ambassador Sherpa’s former driver Wongchhu Sherpa accused her and her husband of human trafficking saying he had collected money for them from some people promising them safe passage to Australia.

Ambassador Sherpa has maintained that Wongchhu’s allegation against her and her family was fabricated.
