NOC in Jhapa found distributing fuel to big traders only

JHAPA: The Nepal Oil Corporation unit in Charali of Jhapa has been found to be selling majority of the available fuel to petrol pumps run by office-bearers of the Mechi Petroleum Dealers Association.

Data of the fuel provided in the months of Asoj and Kattik from the unit shows that more than half of the gasoline from there went to 10 major petrol pumps owned by the office-bearers. There are around 70 petrol stations operating in Mechi zone.

Of them, the Sugam Oil Traders and the Jaya Hanuman Trade Concern, both run by Chandra Dangi, the outgoing Chair of Mechi Petroleum Dealers Association, were found to be the most benefitting.

The Jaya Hanuman Trade Concern received more than 74 kilolitres of petrol in Asoj, more than double of what the normal petrol pumps received.

Association Vice-chair Tikaram Pithakote, however, said that the distribution is being made on the basis of the amount of fuel consumed by the petrol stations in the same month last year.
