Motorists and motorcyclists will be able to purchase fuel from 50 fuel pumps across the Valley, according to Mukunda Ghimire, director of NOC.

Fuel will be distributed on the basis of lots of the vehicles.

On Thursday, motorcycles of 1-30 lot and cars of 1-5 lot can refill. Likewise, 31-50 lot motorcycles and cars from 6-8 lot will be able to purchase fuel on Friday and the remaining lot will get the fuel on Saturday.

As per NOC, it will publish the list of fuel pumps assigned to distribute fuel on its official website (www.nepaloil.com.np) by Wednesday. “Different fuel pumps will be assigned to distribute fuel on different days,” said Ghimire.

NOC has rationed 10 litres of petrol for motorists and five litres for motorcyclists. The ratio for refilling will be 1:2, meaning one car will be refuelled for every two motorcycles.

NOC had barred private vehicles from purchasing fuel from October 1 as its stock had depleted. NOC had lifted the restriction on private vehicles on October 13 for one day before Dashain to ease the mobility of vehicles during the festival. Back then, only nine per cent motorcycles and 15 per cent of cars operational in the Valley were able to refuel.

However, NOC has assured that all vehicles will be able to refill their tanks this time. Altogether 600,000 motorcycles and 120,000 cars are operational in the Valley, as per the Department of Transport Management.

12 petrol tankers arrive

KATHMANDU: Twelve fuel tankers arrived in the Capital from Kyirong with Chinese petrol on Monday and three tankers will leave Rasuwagadhi customs point on Tuesday.

The depot will register the fuel in its account only after testing the quality and quantity of petrol. Twenty-two tankers were sent to Kyirong on Monday and another 22 tankers will be sent on Tuesday to bring gasoline granted by the government of China.

Tankers will be dispatched in various lots in coordination with the Chinese side to bring 1,000 tonnes of gasoline gifted by the northern neighbour to fuel-strapped Nepal.

Fuel tankers have brought load of up to 75 per cent of their capacity considering the challenging terrain, according to Basu Dahal, president of Bagmati Petroleum Transporters Association.

Each tanker sent to Kyirong has 12 kl capacity, which means each tanker is bringing nine kl load.
