Police dismantling drug racket

BHOJPUR: Police in the east are close to dismantling a thriving drug racket.

As per data of the eastern regional police office, Biratnagar, a team from the office has nicked as many as 14 persons involved in the illegal trade along with a huge amount of drugs in the past four days.

In two days, police have arrested 10 persons in Jhapa with 418 bottles of corex, 100 nitro tablets, 600 gram brown sugar, 50,000 rupees cash and six mobile phone sets.

The same team arrested four other persons from Itahari, Sunsari, today. The arrested are: Bibek Chaudhary, 32, of Morang, and Narendra Bahadur Karki, 34, Kapildev Yadav, 50, and Bidhyanand Yadav, 40, of Sunsari.

They were arrested while selling drugs at Itahari Bus Park Area, along with 100 ampules each of norgesic, diazepam and lupigesic, 10 bottles of corex and 52 nitro tablets among others.

Jhapa police have filed a drug case against the first 10 persons and police in Itahari are investigating the other four.

Four smugglers nabbed

JHAPA: A police patrol team arrested four drug smugglers from the border in Jhapa on Thursday.

The arrested have been identified as Kalim Ansari of Tagandubba VDC, Jhapa; Anjar Ansari of Bihar, India; Chandan Rajbansi and Monaj Singh of Aijan, India; said District Police Office, Jhapa.

The police team have seized 360 bottle corex and nine bottles of other drugs from the smugglers.

The arrested were bringing illegal drugs from Bihar to Nepal. Police also seized two Indian number plate motorcycles, which were being used for smuggling, from the arrested.
