Political Committee formed to fool India, claims Mahato

Kathmandu, February 23

Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato today warned the government that it better address the demands of the Madhes movement or face a stronger movement within next few months.

“We will begin a stronger movement next month if the government fails to utilise this time to fulfil the demands of Madhes,” Mahato told reporters during a press meet organised at its party headquarters.

Mahato said the government had betrayed Madhesi leaders by not doing what it had promised the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front.

He said talks with the government was not possible until those who died during the Madhes movement were declared martyrs, those injured got compensation and those arrested were released without condition.

Mahato charged that the government had formed the political mechanism a day before Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli’s India visit just to fool the southern neighbour.

Mahato said the mechanism would not function because it was one-sided and formed without finalising its Terms of Reference.

He maintained that the political mechanism was a conspiracy and formed merely to fool the world, particularly India.

According to him the dispute over demarcation of provinces would be sorted out only by forming two provinces in the Madhes.

Sadbhawana Party has decided to revive the Madhes Rakshya Bahini a youth volunteers organisation for making the Madhes movement systematic and disciplined.

“The volunteers will also be deployed during natural calamities to rescue victims,” Mahato said, adding that the party would deploy 100 volunteers at every election constituency after its directives are finalised by the party.
