DAMAK: Property worth around Rs 20 million was destroyed when an electric shop caught fire in Shivasatashi Municipality-11 of Jhapa district on Thursday evening.

The fire that started with an electric short circuit at around 8:00 pm yesterday, in Sangraula Brothers' Electric Shop gutted the electric equipment housed inside, including televisions, refrigerators vacuum cleaners, and washing machines.

The locals became aware of the fire only after they saw the clouds of smoke billowing from the shop.

Police with the help of locals and fire engines doused the fire after two hours of efforts, according to Police Inspector Kailash Rai, at the Jhiljhile Area Police Office.
