Rally for secularism

A mass peace rally was staged demanding secularism in the new constitution in Damauli, Tanahun, on Friday.

Demonstrators in the rally, which was organised with the initiative of the Secular Nepal Stakeholders’ Committee, Tanahun, went around from Ansanchowk to Damauli Bazaar and gathered at a corner meet.

Speaking at the meeting, the leaders demanded that the country be declared a secular country in the new constitution as per the spirit of the Interim Constitution.

Hundreds of participants representing religious and social groups participated in the rally and showcased solidarity in the movement toward secularism.

They warned of intensifying the protest programmes if their concerns were not addressed.
