Ram Baran Yadav seeks stable constitution

JANAKPURDHAM: Former President Ram Baran Yadav has underscored the need of a stable constitution for doing away with political complexities.

Participating in a conversation with students of the Baghchaura Higher Secondary School in Dhanusha district today, the former President said that stability should be given to the Constitution by addressing the dissatisfactions of the Madhesis.

He further said the role of all parties would be vital in resolving the Madhes issues through talks and the democratic process, expressing the belief that the problems could be resolved by means of next Constitution amendment.

In response to a question from the students, the former Head of State said the disparity and discrimination between the centre and the provinces could be removed if the future course of action was prepared as per the federal structure as it would ensure a judicious distribution of revenues.

He also pointed out the need of awareness and initiation in society to wipe out various ill practices like discrimination between sons and daughters, child marriage, dowry system and unemployment.

Professor Krishna Khanal, journalist Rajendra Dahal, professor Binaya Kushiyait and educationist Puranjan Acharya spoke of the need for all sides to take initiatives towards resolving the existing problems.

The programme was presided over by the School Management Committee president Ram Bharos Kapadi.
