RAUTAHAT: Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist party's Rautahat General Secretary has been arrested on charge of murder attempt, from Helekhola of Chandranigahapur Municipality-6 on Thursday.

According to SP Ganesh Regmi, accused Gopal Jimba had led a group of youth  which had thrashed a local youth Man Dhoj Thing last week.

After the incident, kin of Thing had filed an FIR against Jimba at the Chandranigahapur Area Police Office.

He further said a police team had arrested Jimba after they were were informed about him being at his house in the Municipality.

Meanwhile, the District Court has remanded Thing to custody after he was presented before it.
