Relief, ID card distribution biased: Quake victims

Hetauda, August 26

Quake victims of Hetauda Sub-metropolis ward no 23, 24 and 25 of Makawanpur have alleged that the administration and political parties have not paid attention to the plight of victims.

They lamented that the administration and political parties were biased while distributing identity cards and relief materials to tremor victims.

“The powerful earthquake of April 25 had damaged houses, but the responsible bodies have shown their bias,” they lamented. The victims said that the concerned authority has paid no heed though they have complained to the authority time and again.

A local, Devi Prasad Timalsina, said that there was partiality while collecting details of the disaster. “The villagers demand that details be collected again,’ he said, adding, “But the political parties, ward office and even the CDO office have not paid any attention.”

The victims said that the ward office and civil ward forum representatives were responsible for irregularities in distributing relief materials in the first phase.

The victims have also filed a case at the contact office of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Hetauda.

They have also padlocked at Harnamadi Joint Ward Office demanding that the civil ward forum be scrapped and that they be treated as real quake victims.

Of the 1,486 houses in Harnamadi, 143 houses were completely destroyed and 926 houses were partially damaged. They demanded inclusion of the remaining 433 damaged houses.
