Relocation campaign ends

Authorities in have wrapped up their mission to relocate settlements highly vulnerable to landslide.

According to District Natural Disaster Rescue Committee member secretary and Local Development Officer Chiranjivi Timsina, 649 households in landslide prone areas have been relocated so far.

Families from Nagregagarche, Pokharichaur, Chyamrangbesi, Boldefedich, Pokharinarayansthan, Shikharambot, Shisakhani, Chandeni Mandan, among others, have been shifted to safer places.

“The displaced families that have been relocated are being kept in government-owned lands and private properties for now,” informed LDO Timsina, adding that various organisations had helped in the relocation. Meanwhile, some 14 families who were displaced following landslide in their village Ghimire Gaun in Tukucha Nala last week have been relocated.

Though for now the relocation campaign has come to an end, we will be relocating families who are at risk and vulnerable to landslide in the monsoon, in future, he said.
