Rs 36 billion for social security

KATHMANDU: The government has allocated Rs 36 billion for various social security allowances for the upcoming fiscal year 2017-18.

Unveiling the new income and expenditure, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara announced the amount would be provided to senior citizens, single women, Dalit community, endangered Adivasis and differently-abled people. He also added that such allowances would be disbursed through banking channels so that the money would reach the concerned beneficiaries.

The government has also planned to distribute identity cards in 50 districts to those people identified as living under the poverty line.
