Seven being probed for killing cop in Kailali

Police have started investigating seven persons, including the regional chairperson of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum, who were held on the charge of involvement in the brutal killing of as many as nine persons, including SSP Laxman Neupane, in Tikapur of Kailali, on Monday.

According to sources, security personnel started investigating them by extending their custody period from District Court Kailali.

Police have initiated probing Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Democratic Kailali constituency No 3 Chairman Ram Prasad Chaudhary, Prem Bahadur Chaudhary of Bhajani Trishakti Municipality-5, Padariya of the district, Ram Kumar Kathariya, 20, Sundarlal Kathariya, 27, Dil Bahadur Chaudhary, 20, Raj Kumar Kathariya, 24, of Manuwa-1 and Hari Narayan Chaudhary, 22, of Manuwa-4, Kanchanpur.

District Police Office Kailali said the alleged were held on the basis of an FIR filed at the office and investigation was on regarding murder charge. It is alleged that they used inflammable substance, domestic weapons including spears, axes and sickles, among others.

Of the 10 arrested, Ram Janam Chaudhary, 17, of Darakh-6, Narayanpur, Khadka Bahadur Chaudhary, 55, and Sundarlal Chaudhary, 35, of Joshipur-4 were released on date. “They were released on the condition that they be present when called during investigation,” said DSP Bishworaj Khadka. Police said that search for the accused, identification and legal action against them is going on.
